Currently my favourite brunch location

Oh my goodness… I don’t even know where to start!

Clair suggested to start our Sunday morning off by going to get some breakfast, her treat (Thank you Clairbear) before we went to do some errands for my baby shower.

Clair suggested to go to Finlay & Sons which is a cafe she had went to with her boyfriend before and she promised it was really good. So I thought why not.

Upon arrival, we noticed a few people standing around so we thought there would be a wait but luckily there was a table ready for us. The perks of traveling in two’s.

We immediately were served with water and the waitress also took our coffee order too. The coffee didn’t take long to arrive and it was absolutely delicious. It’s been a long time since I had a really good coffee so I was in coffee heaven. The cup was so small though so we ended up ordering another one. It’s very rare of me to order a second coffee (especially while pregnant) but the coffee was absolutely perfection with the right amount of coffee and creaminess, I just needed another one. Yum!

Finlay & Sons had a great selection on their menu too which I loved. I really wanted to try the pancakes or french toast but I couldn’t help but be drawn to the House made Turkish beef sausage, hash brown, pickled cauliflower, smoked tomato relish and friend egg. Normally cafes only ever serve up pork sausages so I had to take advantage of this rare opportunity to order the beef sausages and I’m so glad I did because it was full of flavour with a hint of spiciness. I feel like this is right up Idrus’ ally. I don’t like cauliflower but the pickled cauliflower on the plate was seriously the best thing ever. The hash brown and tomato relish was a great edition to the meal as well.

Clair ordered the House smoked salmon omelette, herbed cream cheese, capers and dill salad which looked just as good. I tried a little bit of it and the herbed cream cheese was mouth watering.

Along with great company, mouth watering food, delicious coffee and incredible atmosphere, the service made the experience that much more enjoyable. The staff were very efficient and happy to be there to serve us. I seriously don’t have a single negative thing to say about Finlay & Sons.

I’ve only been to a couple of cafes in Perth in the last three years but I think I’ve found my favourite! I can’t wait to drag Idrus along to Finlay & Sons as I am confident that he will enjoy it as much as I did. I also really want to try some of their cakes that were on display by the counter. Yum!
