Did the coffee at Doubleshot live up to it’s name? Find out here…
There’s this café in Deakin called Doubleshot that a fellow blogger had mentioned to me a couple of months back and not only that but I also read about it on Inexplicable Wanderlust written by Steve who is the guest author and Bec’s brother.
It’s been on my “to do” list since then but I still never had the chance to go there until a week ago BUT there was a huge wait to get a table so Idrus and I ended up going somewhere elsewhere.
I finally had the opportunity to dine at Doubleshot last week on Tuesday with my prima, Stephanie who was in town visiting. It’s a twenty minute drive from my house but it’s safe to say, it was worth it!
The interior was amazing and Steve from Inexplicable Wanderlust describes it perfectly… The “wood cabin” vibe was pretty amazing, I was even intrigued by the line of ropes on the ceiling and vintage light bulbs that were slightly dimmed in the room. The staff members were very friendly which always gets extra brownie points.
I would have loved to sit outdoors by the heaters but they were already occupied by other diners and to be honest the weather was still a little too chilly to be sitting outside without a heater so we were seated inside instead.
First things first, the coffee… I ordered my regular cappuccino and Stephanie ordered herself a latte. We equally enjoyed our coffee however Stephanie mentioned she would have preferred better sugar? Don’t ask… I still haven’t wrapped my head around it. I feel like Doubleshot has lived up to their name hence the name of their café so in a way it was no surprise that the coffee was spot on.
I was stuck between wanting a savoury or sweet dish (what’s new) but because Stephanie was ordering the Shakshouka dish I decided to order the Tim Tam Pancakes which was on the special board and we were going to share. I’m not really a lover of chocolate (I know, you’re probably thinking I am crazy) but I was really intrigued and thought I would give it a try anyway. To my surprise it wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would be so that was good. I loved that it was served with ice-cream but I didn’t like that it was served with apples. Stephanie said when you eat the pancake with the apple it tastes really good.
I can’t wait to go back to Doubleshot and try something different on their menu. I will bring Idrus next time as he would really enjoy the coffee. The whole atmosphere was lovely and I highly recommend Doubleshot to be your next brunch date with your friends or family. Just make sure you bring enough cash as they do not split the bill.
If you decide to go on the weekend, I recommend going as early as possibly because if you go at around 10am then expect to be waiting a very long time for a table.
As Steve said on Inexplicable Wanderlust
“Doubleshot is definitely one of those cafés where cool trendy types go for coffee. So if you’re cool, or want to look like you are, head down to Doubleshot.”
